Teams for the 2nd XI and 3rd XI and a look at all games, including the 1sts. This story appears on both Social Media and the website.

The 2nd XI has travelled further than the Leyland Brothers (for those under 40 just google it) in the first half of the season and are off to Mia Mia to play top of the table Heathcote on a hard wicket. Some big inclusions with Astin Clayton, Jonty Cavalier, Rob Douglas and Will Trew coming into the team that has enjoyed consecutive wins. Heathcote have made some massive scores this season and some tight bowling will be imperative to keep the Lions in the game and also batting the full 40 overs. A win should see the team jump into the top 4.

The 3rd XI after back-to-back wins as well, will have a more difficult assignment then their last two against the reigning premiers Strathdale-Maristians. Ryder Cavalier and Nash James return to the team have both performed well for the Lions this season. The key to the game will be whether the skipper can match their star batsman Hayden Polglaise for runs. Should our senior players with runs match their senior players for runs, the team will be right in the game, even with Strath having an older junior contingent than the Lions. Both sides fielding 8 juniors and some of the best players in the U14 & U16 competitions.

The 1st XI is at Bake Mate Senior Oval Marist for week 2 of their game against Guildford. The Lions are in a dominant position at 4/59 after bowling out Guildford for 77. Mitch Lawrence and Connor Berry are at the crease but against one of the stronger bowling line-ups, the runs will not be easy. With Adi Ali, Jimmy Liersch to name a couple still to come, the team can hopefully bat for another 40 overs and put pressure back on Guildford in going for maximum points. First things first, is just get the runs needed for first innings points.

Good luck to all teams this week
